traveling by car in switzerland
Although the majority of travelers and visitors of Switzerland favor getting to the country by plane, and using the country’s best means of getting around, which is of course none other than the fast and luxurious Swiss trains, some travelers still prefer and take pleasure in traveling by car, to and within the country.Traveling by car can be a rather exhausting way of spending ones vacation, but to some it’s all worth it. These travelers usually enjoy the feeling of roving at their own pace and their own choice. They get to see and do what they want without the pressures of meeting “time-deadlines” and the inconveniences of being left behind. And certainly, they won’t have setbacks in Switzerland when it comes to its roads and highways.
Switzerland roads are generally good, with well-maintained roads and a respectable autoroute network, presented with spectacular views of the Alps. The Alps is one of the world’s magnificent mountain ranges, and the alpine passes are easy to drive, with extra caution of course on narrow and winding roads. Travelers by car can also drive through medieval villages, or visit one of the many Swiss vineyards or the eye-catching flower gardens. However, keep in mind that during the tourist season of summer and winter, traffic has a tendency to be heaviest.
