Traveling in a tour group can save some money if you are tight on budget. Tour groups usually secure direct travel discounts with the hotels and get good discounts for bigger group travels.

Though I’m never a fan of tour packages, I must admit that it can be the best way to visit certain countries. Traveling with a tour group can be rush and you can’t have the flexibility to do what you want. Usually you need to adhere to the group’s timing and itinerary and your cooperation is necessary to ensure a happy travel for the entire group. Sometimes, you may not even be happy with the accommodation and you have to bear with it. For cheaper tour packages, you must be prepared to stay in cheaper hotels and I’m always worried that the building materials can cause mesothelioma!

So if you can afford the time, do your own planning for your direct travel to your desired destination and you will find that it may not be that expensive after all. It’s all about planning and making the right choices at most times.
